Dear Residents,
It has been my honor and pleasure to serve as Mayor of the Village of Godfrey since 1997. From 1991 until 1997, I served as a Trustee on the Village of Godfrey Board.
I have been a lifelong resident of the Village of Godfrey and my full time occupation is that of a farmer. My wife, Lori, and I have raised three sons in this wonderful community. I have watched our Village change over the years from being primarily agricultural to now being home to a number of upscale residential subdivisions.
More and more people are discovering the Village of Godfrey as a wonderful place to live and to raise a family. As our residential development has blossomed, and our highway infrastructure has become better and better, commerical retailers are discoverning Godfrey. Only recently, plans have been announced for the construction of a Super Wal-Mart near the intersection of the anticipated Illinois 255 and Godfrey Road or US 67/Illinois 111. From the experience of other communities, I believe that the Wal-Mart Supercenter will spur a number of new retail and commercial developments.
I have always felt that my greatest challenge is to assure that the incoming growth in Godfrey will be accomplished without sacrificing the wonderful residential character of our community.
As Mayor of the Village of Godfrey, I welcome you to our community. If you have any questions about our community, please contact my office or any of the various departments of our Village. I am proud that all of our department heads have been appointed according to their professional abilities and they are each fully capable of performing their duties to the betterment of our residents.
Sincerely,
Michael J. Campion
Mayor of the Village of Godfrey
