Arbor Day Celebration

Thanks to everyone that helped with the Arbor Day celebration on April 26 and to everyone that came out to celebrate trees!  We had a beautiful day at Glazebrook Park to recognize and dedicate 28 trees and two park benches.  Below are some pictures from the day's events.  Mark your calendars for Arbor Day 2009!

Join us in celebrating Arbor Day at Glazebrook Park.  The park will come alive with the excitement of trees and the buzz of children during this spectacular celebration of trees.  Red bud seedlings will be given away to the first 300 visitors to the park courtesy of Ameren CIPS.  The rest of the morning will be filled with earth arts and crafts, educational booths, vendors, inflatables and lots of fun for the whole family!  Kids (ages 5-12) can sign up to participate in the fishing derby beginning at 8 am.  Click here for a detailed schedule of the day's events.

Sprig, the United States Forest Service's helper, will visit local schools prior to Arbor Day to educate youngsters about the importance of planting trees and respecting the earth.  Click here to view pictures from Sprig's visit to the local schools in 2007.  Sprig will also be at the Arbor Day festival to visit with the public.

Arbor is made possible through the generous donations provided by Ameren CIPS, Schnucks, Pepsi, Baker's Auto Body, Steve Bollini Taxidermy and Ole Man River Bait Shop.
