Family Fun Fest

Family Fun Fest

BLAST OFF your Independence Day celebration with the Village of Godfrey Parks and Recreation Department by attending the 4th of July Family Fun Fest at Robert E Glazebrook Park located at 1401 Stamper Lane, Godfrey, IL beginning at 5 pm with activities continuing through until the FIREWORKS at 9:15 pm. 

The event will kick-off with a Patriot Bike Decorating contest for children ages 5-11 years.  Children should dress up their bikes and bring their patriotism out to be judged following a short bike parade around the park.  Entry forms are available at the Parks office, 6810 Godfrey Road, Godfrey or by clicking here. Participants must be pre-registered by Friday, July 1, 2016 to participate in the contest. 

The Parks Department is currently looking for high school age and older volunteers to assist with the activities during the festival.  There are also vendor spots available for the event.  Volunteers and vendors should contact the Godfrey Parks office at 618-466-1483 as soon as possible to register to participate in this great, family fun event.  Additional event information may be found on the Parks and Recreation Facebook page.

Beautiful Glazebrook Park will be the site for three summer movie nights sponsored by Liberty Bank. Each movie will begin at dusk (it will be late due to the season). Bring your chairs and blankets to sit on and stop by the concession stand for cool treats, popcorn and glow necklaces. The first 50 visitors to each movie will receive a free giveaway!

IDNR Urban Fishing Clinics

The Village of Godfrey is partnering with the Illinois Department of Natural Resources to offer free urban fishing clinics at Glazebrook Park during the month of July. Two clinics will be held each day: the first from 9:00 - 11:30 am, the second from 1:00 - 3:30 pm Monday through Friday beginning July 5. All fishing rods, reels, bait and equipment will be provided. The clinics are for all ages. Children must be accompanied by an adult.  For large groups, please call the Parks and Recreation Department at 466-1483 to make a reservation. 

 

KIDCation OlympicsKIDCation

Test your physical talents with an afternoon of fun at beautiful Glazebrook Park. Children entering Kindergarten through 5th grade are invited to participate in the Godfrey KIDCation Olympics. A series of fun, physical events will be spread throughout the park for all to enjoy in addition to some back to school preparedness stations.

Great Godfrey Triathlon

Great Godfrey TriathlonThe Village of Godfrey will host its second annual Great Godfrey Triathlon in the end of August 2016. All athletes are encouraged to participate in this swimming, biking, and running competition. The course will consist of a open swim in the pond at Glazebrook Park, a 14 mile bike race through picturesque Godfrey and a 5K trail run.

Early race packet pick up will be available on Friday, August 26 from 3 - 4:30 pm at the Godfrey Village Hall. Packets will also be available for pick up on the day of the race beginning at 5:30 am onsite.

Awards will be handed out for the top three male and female finishers in each age division in addition to the top overall male and female finishers. The Great Godfrey Triathlon is participating in the muniTri series in association with Fleet Feet.

Entry fee includes a souvenir t-shirt and complimentary lunch. Lunch will be available for purchase for guests and spectators. Please contact the Godfrey Parks and Recreation Department  at (618) 466-1483 for additional information.
