Who We Are

Established nearly 60 years ago, the North Alton - Godfrey Business Council is an all–volunteer organization serving locally–owned businesses and public sector entities.  Our diverse membership represents retail shops, banks, auto body shops, golf courses, restaurants, retirement communities, schools, social service agencies, construction companies, local radio and newspaper, insurance companies, investment counselors, car dealers, pharmacies, and MORE!

Council Member Opportunities

Our grassroots Business Council has gained respect by promoting the success of our members and by reinvesting success back into our communities.  We are proud of the following projects and hope YOU will be actively involved with your time, talent, and financial support.

North Alton Business District Beautification
– From May to October, we tend to the daily watering of more than 50 hanging flower baskets.

Hanging Banners – Council sponsors these colorful banners which adorn city shopping center lights.

Memorial Day Parade
– Council members walk or ride the Bluff City Trolley in the “Oldest Memorial Day Parade in the U.S.”  As we walk the 2–mile route in Upper Alton, we hand out 4,000 impatiens to ladies – our way of saying “thanks” for doing business in North Alton–Godfrey.

Jazz in the Park Series
–  In association with the Hayner Public Library District and the Godfrey Parks and Recreation Department, this series of summer concerts entertains about 1,000 people at Whispering Oaks Gazebo in Glazebrook Park and at Lewis and Clark College.

Annual Auction – This event is held each year raising funds to support Council projects.  We need your bidding support, donations, and attendance to make this annual event a success.

Good Neighbor Day – Each year in September, thousands of roses are gifted by the Council to their customers, area hospitals, nursing homes, senior citizen and assisted living facilities.

All God’s Children Shall Have Shoes – In November and December, the Council assists this charitable organization in finding shoes for needy children.

Christmas Wonderland – Each year, the Council volunteers for one night to staff this event at Rock Springs Park in Alton.

Christmas Baskets – The Council donates and delivers Christmas food baskets to needy families on December 23rd.
